Ma'an Gaza – Seven armed Palestinian resistance wings agreed to maintain security in order to ensure the success of the Palestinian Legislative Council elections.
Armed resistance groups linked to Fateh, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Arab Liberation Front, the Palestinian People's Party, and the Popular Resistance Committees released a joint statement on Thursday confirming their commitment to a common operation bureau to oversee any security problems that might effect Palestinians during the elections.
The groups asked Palestinian Authority security forces to cooperate with the arrangement.
The statement read, ‘PLC elections are the first step to encourage democratic principles and prove to the world that we desire to live free and we are capable of holding responsibility.’
The statement described the elections as a celebration and the beginning of a new stage in Palestinian life.
