Ma'an Ramallah – The Central Elections Commission announced Monday procedures for Jerusalem voters on 25 January for the Palestinian Legislative Council elections.
Polling places will open at 7:00 am, which will be post-offices. Observers will check boxes in the morning, and they will not be opened until the end of the voting period.
Voters will go to the polling places with their identification, wait in line to have their ID and colored card checked. The cards are color coordinated per polling place.
To be certain that the voter is a Palestinian citizen, each person's left-hand forefinger will be inked. The voter will then receive two ballots, one for the list and one for the district, along with two envelopes. The first will be marked with red ink for district voting and the second for list voting will be marked with yellow.
If a mistake is made, the voter must tell a elections employee who will cancel the envelop and give him or her a new one.
Polling places will close at 7:00 pm. If there are people waiting in line, they will be allowed to vote. After that, the center employees will place a sticker over the slot in the ballot box.
All unused ballots will be sent back to the area Elections Committee with the ballot boxes.
Each post office will have on hand 700 list ballots and 700 district ballots, ink, envelopes for identification, envelopes for cancelled ballots, and stickers to close the ballot box slots after the final vote is cast.
