Israelis confiscate Bethlehem land, plan to construct synaogogue in district

Bethlehem (Ma'an) – Israeli authorities have confiscated a house in Bethlehem, claiming that the owners sold the property to Jewish owners. The family that owns the property denied the sale, but an Israeli court upheld the property seizure.

Bethlehem Governor, Salah Al Tamari said, ‘The Israeli confiscation operations take place within a region that is considered Bethlehem and this region is controlled by the Bethlehem Municipal Government. But Israel, like with other agreements, is completely ignoring this.’

Tamari told Ma'an News, ‘The Bethlehem District government sent messages to European representatives to explain the Israeli seizure of land around Rachel's Tomb and the Beit Jala area.’

Tamari said that the sale of Bethlehem property is a false claim and is illegal under international law, as it is within an occupied area.
