Tulkarem (Ma'an) – The farmers of Tulkarem are demonstrating against the Israeli closures which have caused the selling price of their vegetables to plummet.
On Thursday farmers in the northwestern West Bank city demonstrated in the main market ‘Al Hessbeh.’
Farmers gathered their vegetables and dumped them in front of the Palestinian Authority's Agricultural Building in the city.
Head of the Farmers Union, Fayez Al Tanyb, told Ma'an, ‘The Israeli process of building the Wall and confiscating lands from their owners is the cause of the intense suffering farmers and all Palestinians are facing.’
He added, ‘Since the closure of Tulkarem, the farmers cannot sell their produce inside Palestinian cities or outside of Palestine. This is tragic.’
The loss of revenue is destroyed the already devastated economy.
PLC member in Tulkarem Dr. Hassan Khreisheh participated in the demonstration and called on the PA to stop importing any Israeli products.
