Ramallah: Independent Palestine MP and General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative (PNI), Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, today condemned ongoing Israeli military incursions in Nablus’ Balata Refugee Camp, and the bombing of areas of Northern Gaza.
Israeli troops invaded Nablus on February 17, and residents of the Balata Camp in the city have been under intermittent curfew since February 19. Since then, Israeli troops have killed 8 Palestinians, 5 of whom were unarmed civilians, and wounded more than 30, including medical personnel and 2 international volunteers.
In Gaza, 2 Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli troops on Friday, while eight roads were bombed by Israeli warplanes in northern parts of the Strip on Saturday.
The PNI made an urgent appeal to the Quartet, and to the international community as a whole to take immediate action in pressurizing Israel to end military violations in Palestinian areas, and to abide by international law and United Nations resolutions.
