Nablus demonstration calls to solve problems that lead to lawlessness: poverty, social inequality & economic devastation

Nablus (Ma'an) - Many people in Nablus remain dissatisfied with the general state of internal lawlessness, regardless of the weeklong Israeli invasion.

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution organized a demonstration in front of the Nablus City Court House in protest Tuesday.

Demonstrators held signs calling for a fair and equal application of the law.

Center Director, Ahmed Abu Ayesh, said, ‘This protest is to show our condemnation of lawlessness and disorder, and our support of the law.’

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution called on the Palestinian Authority to take strong action against law breakers in bringing them to justice.

He confirmed that the judicial system should be activated to help end the phenomena. Abu Ayesh also said that the campaign against lawlessness began a month ago. ‘The Palestinian people are against lawlessness, this absence of law and order.’

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution issued a call to the PA to secure Nablus, Jenin, Ramallah, and all Palestinian cities, and to confiscate weapons used against citizens and their properties.

They also called for respect for Palestinian citizens and their lives and to reform the security apparatus so that it works. The Center called to strengthen the Palestinian judicial system and to rehabilitate the courts.

What is needed, according to the Center, are new laws to fight the phenomena and most importantly, to solve the problems that lead to lawlessness, such as poverty, social inequality, and economic devastation.
