Ramallah, 11-03-06: A statement released today by Independent Palestine clarified the Coalition’s position on whether or not it will participate in the new Hamas-led government.
Independent Palestine head, MP Mustafa Barghouthi, reported that the Coalition had received a written program from the dominant Hamas movement on its proposed agenda for the new government, which is currently under consideration by the various political groups.
Dr. Barghouthi stated that Independent Palestine’s decision will be based on the nature of the political, economic and social program proposed by Hamas, and the possibility of forming a national unity government to meet the challenges currently facing the Palestinian people towards achieving freedom, independence, peace based on a two state solution, and wide-ranging internal reform.
