Cambridge University Delegation Visits PNI

Ramallah, 22-03-06: A delegation of 30 students from Cambridge University in England visited Palestinian National Initiative offices in Ramallah today, and met with the PNI’s General Secretary, Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi MP.

Dr. Barghouthi presented the students with a background to the current reality in Palestine.  He focused on the latest threat to achieving a future peace, in the form of a recent announcement made by acting Israeli prime minister, Ehud Olmert, that he will seek to set the final borders of the Israeli state within four years based on the route of the ‘Separation Wall’.  This plan will effectively annex the Jordan Valley and East Jerusalem – lands occupied in 1967 – as well as major, illegally built settlement blocs, to Israel.
