Gaza-Ma'an-A high ranking official in the European Union has announced that the special credit fund which was formed by the Middle East Quartet to aid the Palestinian governmental workers will soon begin to function. This fund will enable money to be transferred to Palestinian Authority employees from the World Bank directly to the employees' Palestinian bank accounts.
The source added that the money transfer will go directly to the banks and not through the government led by the Hamas Movement.
It was also noticed that David Welch, the US assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern and North African affairs, said recently that the preparations for the aid which was agreed upon by the Quartet will be finished within one week. Welch, who was speaking in Kuwait, said that the mechanism could be completed in seven days, or at most, three weeks. 'I am sure we will reach an understanding,' he added.
This mechanism will enable money to be sent to the employees directly without passing through the government.
