- 37 Palestinians were killed (including seven children and three women) and 130 injured during continued IDF military operations. Of these casualties, nine were killed in their homes by IDF artillery shelling, IAF air strikes or during incursions.
- Between 26 – 28 July, an IDF incursion into eastern Gaza City killed 24 Palestinians and injured 97. On 1 August, IDF soldiers entered about 1.5km into the Palestinian area east of Rafah.
- Palestinian militants fired approximately 71 homemade rockets towards Israel (Sderot and western Negev) injuring three Israelis, including two children. More than 1,050 artillery shells were fired by the IDF during the week (compared to 639 the previous week).
- UNRWA provided shelter in four UNRWA schools to 1,553 Palestinians (273 families fleeing the continued IDF shelling in the northern areas.
- The IDF has continued to call Palestinians by phone warning them to leave their homes before launching air strikes which demolished six houses. A further six Palestinian homes and workshops were demolished during IAF air strikes without prior warning. The IAF air strike on the Gazan power plant continues to negatively impact water and electricity services across the Gaza Strip.
- Karni crossing and the Nahal Oz pipelines were closed for three days during the reporting period. Erez crossing opening hours were restricted for diplomats, humanitarian workers and critical (life-saving) medical referrals. Rafah crossing remained closed to exit and enter the Gaza Strip including those seeking medical treatment abroad.
- The UNSCO compound in Gaza city and the OCHA Gaza Field Coordination Unit office were substantially damaged during a demonstration by an estimated 5,000 people voicing anti-UN sentiments following a protest of the Qana bombing in Lebanon.
In the West Bank:
- Since 31 July, the IDF has imposed a total closure on the West Bank preventing Palestinians with valid Israeli permits from entering Israel with limited exceptions.
- The number of flying (random) checkpoints observed increased dramatically during the reporting period to 260 (compared to 185 in the previous week).
- Peaceful demonstrations were held in West Bank cities to protest against the ongoing situation in Lebanon.
