Bethlehem - Ma‘an - New information minister, Mustafa Barghouthi, has confirmed that the new government‘s political platform involves adhering to international demands in order to lift the economic embargo imposed on Palestinians.
Speaking to Ma‘an New Agency, Barghouthi said that consultations between the factions have been concluded and the results of the talks will be presented to the Palestinian Legislative Council and publicly announced on Saturday.
Barghouthi declared ‘all the excuses for the siege have been eradicated‘. He called on the international community and the Quartet (the United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia) ‘to work with the new government and respect it, to lift the siege and renew the cooperation with the Palestinian government.‘
Palestinian Prime Minster, Ismail Haniyeh, is expected to announce the new unity government‘s political platform to the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) in their session which is to be held before midday on Saturday.
