Barghouthi Meets Swedish FM

Bethlehem - Ma‘an – Palestinian minister of Information, Mustafa Barghouthi, has called for recognition of the unity government by all parties and states.

The minister‘s appeal was made during a meeting with the Swedish foreign minister, Carl Bildt, in the ministry of information in Ramallah on Sunday.

Barghouthi confirmed that the Palestinian government is a democratic government as it represents more than 96 percent of the Palestinians.

Barghouthi welcomed the visit of the Swedish minister who was one of the international figures that monitored the elections and witnessed that it was an honest and fair election.

Barghouthi also confirmed that the government platform includes a call for a truce with the Israelis; this truce is to be mutual and comprehensive. He added that his government respects international law and humanitarian law and called on the world to exert pressure on Israel to respect international laws.

Barghouthi pointed out that his government‘s program also calls for a Palestinian state to be established on the lands occupied in 1967, with Jerusalem as the capital.

Barghouthi called on the other countries to deal with the ministers equally, without discrimination.
