A photo exhibit opened on Saturday of works done in Ramallah‘s Qalandiya area, the checkpoint of the same name occupied by Israeli forces. Also on display were photos of the Wall built there within the last three years.
Photographer Khalid Jarrar was present at his opening, as were Palestinian and foreign journalists, photographers, artists and the new Minister of Information, Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi.
Jarrar‘s work was described as ‘arresting,‘ with some pieces focusing on the human suffering along the Wall and at the checkpoint, with others depicting images blurred to stir the imagination.
Palestinian children and the elderly were highlighted as Israeli forces subjected them to ‘Draconian measures which trample human dignity,‘ described one attending journalist.
Dr. Barghouthi was walked through the exhibit that included just a sampling of the 528 manned checkpoints and 440 unmanned checkpoints within the WestBank that ‘impose a system of Apartheid and are a blight on the face of humanity.‘
