Hebron – Ma‘an – At least 60 people were injured, including 20 security officers, in Hebron in the southern West Bank on Wednesday, as clashes erupted between Palestinian security officers and mourners at the funeral of a Hebron man, shot dead during an anti-Annapolis demonstration in the city on Tuesday.
Thirty-seven-year-old Hisham Barad‘i was shot in the heart during clashes between demonstrators and Palestinian security officers, attempting to disperse the protestors.
19 people were treated at the governmental hospital in Hebron after being injured in clashes at his funeral, medical sources said.
Meanwhile, the Al-Ahli hospital in Hebron said they received 18 injured people, one with a gunshot wound to the foot.
Palestinian security sources said that 20 security officers were also injured in the clashes after mourners fired at them. Others sustained injuries after being pelted with stones.
