Ramallah, 28-01-08: The Palestinian National Initiative mourns the passing away of the historic leader George Habash, founder of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and one of the great symbols of the Palestinians‘ struggle for freedom, independence and justice.
PNI Secretary General, Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi MP, said that Mr. Habash‘s death was "a great loss for the Palestinian people, for the PFLP, and for all national liberation movements around the world."
Dr. Barghouthi paid tribute to the rich legacy left by Mr. Habash, a man who dedicated most of his life to struggling for the fulfillment of Palestinians‘ national rights and the higher, national interests of the Palestinian people.
On behalf of all PNI members and supporters, Dr. Barghouthi expressed his deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Habash, and to the leaders and members of the PFLP.
