A Day of Victory for all Palestinians

The boat carrying supplies and a collection of Palestinian (including several who have lived abroad, one whom has not seen the shores of Gaza for forty years), Israelis, and international peace activists (among them a Nobel Prize winner and several European parliamentarians) has once more broken the siege on the Gaza Strip after speculation and hints from the Israeli authorities that they would not allow a repeat performance of the last successful voyage.

Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, who has not been able to reach the Gaza Strip for two years, was aboard the ship and addressed both the media and our Palestinian brothers and sisters of Gaza who were waiting on the shore.

According to the Dr., “this was a day of victory for all of the Palestinian people. The occupation which has worked so tirelessly to divide our people has failed in the face of coordinated civil resistance. Gaza is not alone, and all Palestinians are with those suffering under the Israeli siege.”

Though the ship has successfully landed on the shores of Gaza, and will be able to distribute the goods they have carried with them, the journey is far from over for those aboard the boat. They must now safely leave the Gaza Strip and avoid detention by the Israeli military. We wish them luck, and will keep you updated on their progress.
