Statement issued by:
Parliamentary Lists’ Representatives and PLC Members

We, the PLC members and Parliamentary Lists’ representatives, affirm the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to express themselves including protesting and demonstrating in solidarity with our people in Gaza Strip in confrontation with the aggression, respecting freedoms and rights and not to violate them for any reason.

- We emphasize on the national unity and unity of our people in confronting the Israeli aggression and our determination to continue popular activities and events and uniting under the Palestinian flag and unified slogans.
- We reject the interference of the Palestinian security apparatuses in the west Bank in the demonstrations and their friction with the demonstrators, assaulting them and arresting some of them as has happened in some West Bank cities, last of which took place in the central demonstration on Friday 9 January in Ramallah. We hold the Palestinian government the full responsibility for such behavior, which are in contradiction with the freedom of expression and democracy. We also call upon the government to hold the perpetrators of those behaviors to account.
- We reaffirm that the political forces and grassroots organizations are responsible for leading and organizing the popular activities. These political forces and grassroots organizations can, through their unity and cooperation, ensure the success of their unified events and activities. We ask all forces to fully abide by participation in the marches and demonstrations only under the Palestinian flag and the slogans of unity in confrontation of the aggression and not to provoke any Palestinian or Arab party.

Meanwhile, while we salute the heroic steadfastness of our people in Gaza Strip, we emphasize on the necessity of placing the unity of the Palestinian people in confronting the aggression on the top of priorities and over any other considerations. We call upon halting all forms of violations that are still taking place in Gaza Strip including assaults, imposition of home arrests, confiscation of freedoms and all acts that breach the rights and freedoms of the people and weaken components of popular steadfastness. We also call upon consolidation of all forces without any discrimination, in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, to promote democracy and the rule of law.
