Hundreds of village residents and international peace activists attempted to reach lands on the other side of Israel‘s separation barrier on Friday, but were stopped by soldiers standing guard.
Salah Al-Khawaja, a leader of the Palestinian National Initiative and member of the village‘s Popular Committee, said "{Israel‘s escalation in the Palestinian territories, the wall, settlement expansion, and arrests are aimed at imposing a reality on the ground."}
He urged national unity among Palestinian factions and suggested repeating tactics used during the first intifada for the anti-wall movement across the West Bank.
