Mustafa Barghouthi meets an Italian delegation and calls for sanctions against Israel

MP Dr Mustapha Barghouthi met on Monday January 3rd  with an Italian solidarity delegation, focusing on the situation inside the occupied Palestinian territories.

During the meeting he explained to the delegation the risks of the
Israeli policies of settlement expansion and the ongoing blockade imposed on Gaza, emphasizing the dramatic situation following the brutal aggression during the last winter and the war crimes committed by Israel violating international law. Dr Barghouti gave to the delegation a detailed briefing through maps, images and figures, analysing the apartheid system carried out in the occupied territory by Israeli authorities.

Comparing apartheid system in the Palestinian territory and the economic and political isolation of the South Africa government, he called for adopting sanctions and boycott actions against Israel, in order to eradicate apartheid. He also illustrated some successful actions achieved by the International Boycott Campaign, such as measures adopted by British trade unions or Federation of British academics, or Belgian-French bank Dexia.
