This Friday protest marked the end of the Fifth Bil’in International Conference for Palestinian Popular Resistance. The conference, entitled “Khalas! We are winning!” was held from Wednesday to Friday and saw the participation of more than 300 people, including speakers of all Palestinian political parties, Israeli activists and delegations from all over the world.
During Friday‘s rally an Arab Israeli protester, Emad Rezqa was injured by a high velocity tear-gas canister fired at his head by Israeli Army.
Despite the fact that the rally was entirely peaceful, demonstrators reported that soldiers showed an indiscriminate use of violence, firing and shooting directly at the faces. Dozens suffered from tear-gas inhalation and 5 demonstrators were injured.
Dr Mustapha Barghouthi, the General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative and Luisa Morgantini, former Vice-President of the European Parliament took part into the rally.
