Independent Palestine head, Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, challenged Israeli restrictions in Jerusalem this morning by travelling to the holy city for prayers at the Al Asqa mosque on the first day of the Muslim “Eid Al Adha” feast.

Independent Palestine candidates toured the Hebron district today as part of their Legislative election campaign. The group included Mustafa Barghouthi, head of the coalition, fellow Independent Palestine candidates, Ms. Amal Khreishe, Yousef Tmazi and Mazen Abu Shamsiyyeh, and independent candidates, Mahmoud Brighet and Ali Abu Zanid, who are supported by Independent Palestine.

An Independent Palestine press conference held outside the National Hospital in Nablus City on Saturday addressed the inadequate health situation in Palestine. The conference was led by Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, head of Independent Palestine, and other members of the coalition, including Dr. Allam Jarrar, Mr. Samer Anabtawi, Mr. Fuad Dawabsheh, Mr. Sliman Dweikat, and Mr. Mohammad A-Taher.

The results of the Seventeenth Palestinian Public Opinion Poll conducted by the Center for Opinion Polls and Survey Studies at An-Najah National University from January 5 to 6, 2006, place the Independent Palestine coalition third in the running order for Legislative elections.

Dr. Barghouthi, Head of the Independent Palestine list, and other members of the Independent Palestine coalition will travel to the Nablus and Salfit districts today as part of their election campaign.
