Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi MP, and Jamal Juma, head of the Stop the Wall Campaign, both contact persons for the Global Action Day in Palestine, detailed at a press conference today the activities and actions for a just peace that will take place in Palestine.

Tonight at 8pm the Gaza Power Generating Company (GPGC) will turn off entirely its power plant for lack of fuel. This will have wide-scale and dramatic consequences for the 1.5 million inhabitants of Gaza who depend on electricity for daily life and heating in the particularly harsh winter, but also for water supply and wastewater treatment. Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi MP, Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative, declared that “Israel’s actions are criminal, illegal and immoral and in blatant violation of all principles of international law.”

The severe and organised humanitarian crisis unfolding in the Gaza Strip as a direct result of Israel's siege, escalating attacks against the Palestinian people, the necessity of national unity and the obligation of the international community to act were the key points addressed by PNI Secretary General Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi MP, together with Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Mohammad Hussein, at a press conference held today in Ramallah.
