Information minister Mustafa Barghouthi said that the platform of the new unity government will stipulate a Palestinian state on the 1967 lands and the compliance of Israel with United Nations resolution 194.

New information minister, Mustafa Barghouthi, has confirmed that the new government's political platform involves adhering to international demands in order to lift the economic embargo imposed on Palestinians.

After much deliberation, the Independent Palestine Coalition and the Palestinian National Initiative (PNI) have opted to participate in the new national unity government. PNI General Secretary, Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi MP, has been directly elected by the leadership of the Coalition and the PNI to represent them in the government, and is due to serve as Minister of Information in the new cabinet.
