Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative strongly condemned the new Master plan, which is set to be approved by the Jerusalem District Planning and Building Committee. The document calls for the expansion of Jewish settlements in East Jerusalem, on privately owned Arab property.

Mustafa Barghouthi: Palestinian delegation to the Conference of the Socialist International has succeeded in adopting a resolution to an unprecedented demand an end to the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem during one year.

A sit-in protest was organised in the West Bank village of Al-Walaja (south of Bethlehem) on Sunday against the ongoing construction of the Wall, which was resumed last Thursday. Dr Mustafa Barghouthi joined the protest.

These new military amendments adopted by Israel to an order that dates back to 1969, represent a very dangerous measure from the perspectives of both content and timing”. With these words Dr Mustafa Barghouthi condemned the new military order issued by Israeli authorities, which demands that all residents of the West Bank including those who were born there obtain an Israeli issued permit.

After decades of military rule over Palestinians and theft of our land, Israeli leaders are increasingly seeing the writing on the wall. They are at least acknowledging reality, if not yet grappling with the consequences.
